John and Chiana arrive at the planet Arnessk. There, Jool, D'argo and the old woman
have been living with several Interons who have been working an archeological dig. In the
past, the planet had seen cycles of peace between Scarrans and Peacekeepers, but at some
point, three Darnaz Probes had been dropped onto the planet, destroying the peace, the
people and the magnetics. The planet goes through phases of magnetic balance, where people
can live on it for a short time. During this time, the Interons did as much research as
they could. The leader of this group, Valla, insisted that if she found all three of
the probes, that she would be able to restore the magnetics. Just as she was about to discover the last probe, the old woman went nuts. She insisted that finding the last probe would be the end of everything. She sent John into another herbal vision. He saw the priests and a small tile. In the vision, he picked it up and looked at it, possibly recognizing one of the images on it, as ancient Egyptian. He later finds it buried in the same place he saw it in his vision. When he wakes up, he finds himself in the ocean, being saved by Oo-nii, the local "swamp thing". Oo-nii informs John that the old woman is going to use Winona to kill Valla. When he finds Valla, she's been turned to stone. D'argo is nearby, holding a Serax carver, which they've been using to help in their archeological digs. When used on flesh, the flesh turns to stone. John's still mostly convinced that the old woman had something to do with it. On Eelak, Sikozu and Rygel struggle to keep the Leviathan alive. Sikozu jump starts John's module and configures it to recieve Peacekeeper signals. She's able to get to the planet, but not in time. She's only able to inform D'argo of the oncoming danger. Grayza finds John and seduces him with some sort of pheremone from her skin. After their "love affair", he is left alone on a cliff, and the old woman puts him in another herbal vision. She tells him that the tile he found was made real after the vision, indicating it had possibly never been real in the first place. She rambles on about how he can't live to tell anyone what he saw, because it will destroy any hope for peace. She forces him to have visions that cause him to jump off the cliff. |
