John hangs from a walkway in Pilot's den, but is able to get his gun out and shoot the serpent. He talks with Aeryn and Zhaan about how he had seen a television transmission in the device (which is now ruined). He pushes them about investigating it further, but it's made clear to him there are more important choices. Zhaan asks him about some blood on the walkway, which he insists is the blood of the serpent. During discussions, they realize that the phaztillion generator is able to make things invisible. They now realize that there is a possibility that the ship has been sabotaged by Neeyala's crew.

Two camps of crew rally together and devise a plan. John, Rygel and Chiana, and D'argo, Zhaan, Stark and Aeryn. Although plotting separately, they come up with the same plan - discover for sure whether or not Neeyala is behind the deterioration of Moya.

While checking the maintenance bay, John finds their new ship, open, and hears noises. He finds D'argo inside, who has been fiddling with the controls. D'argo says that he finds the ship very familiar to him.

Under Pilot's den, Rygel looks for any clues as to what is going on. He finds half the body of one of Neeyala's crew, and she looks like she's been bitten in half by the serpent. Aeryn asks him to remove some of her poison needles, so they can know more about them.

Jool whines about how things have panned out for her, ever since she went on a multi civilization tour for her birthday, and Stark goes nuts on her. He is just about to kill her or at least show her how dark things can be, when another circuit blows.

Neeyala explains to them that the privilege of using their technology is guaranteed by the lives of their families. If they don't return, their families are murdered. They ask her to stop Kreetago from destroying the ship, but she can't, because he doesn't have any communication devices on him. The crew is forced to find him in their own way. They use smoke and lights from the DRD's to find him. Chiana and D'argo go after him. When Kretago is cornered, he fires his poison darts at them. D'argo is able to bounce most of them away with his blade, but one gets Chiana in the leg. They follow him out into the hallway and D'argo kills him.

Alarms blare. Neeyala explains that the generator is close to reaching the point that Neeyala's ship will possibly be able to separate from the ship. John asks if they should stop the process and wait it out, but Neeyala says it cannot be stopped. They agree to let her finish the commands to tell the generator to continue the process.

Meanwhile, they make a plan to try to reconnect Pilot to Moya, revive Pilot and Starburst. And because the generator is on, the serpent is now real and part of their reality. Thanks to Rygel getting the venom darts from the deceased crew member, Chiana will live.

John releases Jool from her handcuffs. He wants her to tell them when she thinks that the generator is about ready to go, if they aren't done by then. Neeyala lies to Jool about the serpent, to get her to scream. Her handcuffs become easier to escape.

The serpent chases John and Aeryn. John has a plan! He takes them to the maintenance bay and onto the ship. Just in time, he activates something on the ship that kills the serpent. However, the time it took to do that, no one was able to vent tier 4 and now there is no safe access to Pilot's chamber. Aeryn goes to investigate how bad things are, in her space suit. Aeryn finds all the corridors vented to space, but Pilot's chambers she finds the seal had held. Zhaan attaches adrenal secretions from Moya and Aeryn "kick starts" Pilot back to consciousness.

Neeyala has escaped her handcuffs. She infuses the air with an explosive, so that John cannot fire on her. She then infuses Moya with the beacon from their ship. Her race will now be able to find them. John runs off, but Neeyala chases him, firing her poison darts. She has him cornered and fires on him, but Jool, who had been screeching wildly as Neeyala approaches, saves John's life. The tips melted and simply bounce off him. They wrestle, and John kicks Neeyala into the generator, sending her body to dust.

John knows it's shortly time for the generator to come in effect. He asks Jool how to work it, but she can't remember. Zhaan walks up and explains how to work it. Pilot figures up the mathematics on what to do. John asks Aeryn to manually fly Moya through the wormhole. He takes over the controls on Neeyala's ship. Zhaan insists on being the one to trigger the generator. They fight her over it, but she insists. She knows it's her time, she is ready to go to her Goddess. They finally agree to let her do it. She activates the generator and the ship floats in front of them for several seconds, before being destroyed by the wormhole.

Aeryn takes the controls. Thrown off several times, she continues to go back. They are able to make it through. The ship is severely damaged. The crew deals with the loss of Zhaan.
