Alex Dimitriades as
Velorek

Chiana discovers an old video. On it, they see that Moya has had a previous pilot who was murdered by a group of Peacekeepers commanded by Velorek (who, ultimately was under the command of Crais). One of those being Aeryn. She is forced to confront what she'd done. Memories surface and Aeryn is forced to remember a time that she would rather have behind her. She also reveals a love affair with Velorek.

Despite their agreement that their current Pilot should not see the video, "thanks" to Rygel, he sees it and confronts Aeryn about it. His own memories of the anguish and pain of being so quickly bonded to Moya nearly bring death to Aeryn.

He decides that he will shut down the ship and not move again til Aeryn has left the ship. Aeryn decides this would be a good idea, but while getting ready to do this, Pilot disconnects himself from the ship. Moya is without a pilot, the crew is without control and Pilot will eventually die from starvation.

Aeryn finally decides that she needs to get to the very bottom of this, even if it means death to herself. She and John find a way into Pilot's chamber. On the way, John gets her to open up again and discovers that she had turned in Velorek for high treason, for a secret plan he had against Crais. No one ever discovered what that was, but ultimately, Aeryn believes that it was the cap on the reproductive system, that was Veloreks doing. He was trying to prevent the conception of the half Leviathan half Peacekeeper ship that Crais was trying to concieve.

When they get into the chamber, it's discovered that Pilot did not really hold anything against Aeryn, so much as himself. He had met with Velorek on his home world and Velorek convinced him that he could find placement on Moya, even though the elders had not decreed Pilot ready to go.

Pilot ultimately felt that his role played more heavily than anyone's, in the death of the previous pilot. In this revelation, Aeryn convinces Pilot that it was just a different time for both of them, and that what they have now is more imporant. Pilot reveals a way to reattach him and allow the bonding to happen naturally, while still giving him basic controls to the ship.
