John, sick of being treated so poorly by the rest of the crew, decides to leave the ship in his module, and get some "space" from the others. However, he left in the middle of helping D'Argo make some repairs to Moya. Her amnexxus fluids built up and the ship is forced into a Starburst. His ship lands on a planet and he lives there a half cycle before the crew of Moya finds him again. John has made friends with the local residents (Aquaticans), but his closeness with Kato-Re (leader) makes Rokon (villager) jealous, and worried that the daughter of the leader, Lashala, will choose John, rather than him. He and a few of his friends follow John back towards where he's been living and attack him. D'Argo shows up and "saves the day". John is angry, cause he's thought all this time that they just abandoned him. Once he finds out the truth, the next problem is that anything that has any power at all, immediately loses power once it enters the planet's atmosphere. Rokon tells the village about D'Argo. Lashala comes to confront John about it and decides they should tell her father about what has happened about Rokon. However, they're ambushed, and sentenced to die. Unknowingly, they've also taken Rygel with them. When he's discovered, the tribe bows before him. Rygel is a "God" in their culture. He later finds out that that Rygel the 10th had sent them here to spread the word of the Dominars and bring them more worshippers, but had abandoned them there, as well as placed the energy draining device on the planet. The scripts also read that Rygel was to "deliver them to the light" and to them, that meant taking them into space. If he could not do this, all three would have to die. Rygel is claimed as a False God when he finally admits that he doesn't know how to do what the prophecy said, and is taken prisoner. D'Argo and John get away. In the meantime, Zhaan and Aeryn had been working on a way to defeat the thing that was draining the energy. Their launch of the device fails as soon as it gets into the atmosphere. However, it lands near D'Argo and John and they are able to stop the villagers before they kill Rygel. John figures out that a nearby stone, in the image of a Hynerian, bears imprints of his hands. His hands open the stone, and all energy is restored to everything on the planet. |
