SCENE I
Aeryn works out with a large floor-type punching bag. She punches and kicks it. John enters.
JOHN: Here you are.
She continues her routine without response.
JOHN: You sure you should be exercising?
AERYN: Why not?
JOHN: Well, cause a little while ago a commando skewered you with his Swiss Peacekeeper army knife.
AERYN: The muscles have completely healed. Do you want something?
JOHN: Yeah. Your comms on the blink? We called you three times for dinner.
AERYN: Not hungry.
JOHN: No? Well, next time answer. It's kinda rude not to reply.
AERYN: Leave me alone!!
JOHN: Yeah. Sure.
He walks over and holds the punching bag.
JOHN: As soon as you...tell me what the problem is.
She continues to punch the bag. After several strikes, she leans over and begins panting. Suddenly, she spits up a large clot of blood. She groans and lurches away from the bag, collapsing to her hands and knees.
JOHN: Hell, Aeryn, what is that?
She gets up and tries to exit the room. He grabs her by the arm. She makes a wide swing, but John ducks under it. Her body follows the arch of her arm, and she collapses on the floor, groaning. John touches her forehead gently.
JOHN: You're ice cold. Alright, knock off the completely healed crap and talk to me!
He pulls her into a sitting upright position.
JOHN: Better yet, we'll talk to Zhaan, closest thing we've got to a Doctor
AERYN: No! Don't summon the others! Just let get me to my Prowler.
JOHN: Your Prowler? [pause] What? You're gonna go for a drive? Last I heard we weren't within Prowler...[long pause as he realizes what she intends].....[shakes head] No. You are not gonna die.
AERYN: [shakes head] Didn't lie to you. My muscles are healed. But that knife must have pierced my paraphoral nerve. And once that is damaged, it doesn't regenerate. So, within fifty or sixty arns, it's going to fail, and I am going to die. There's nothing you can do about it.
JOHN: [shakes head] There's something we can do.
AERYN: The only treatment is a tissue graft from a genetically compatible donor.
JOHN: Fine. We'll find someone. What got - what - two, three days?
AERYN: [chuckles] At best. We're nowhere near a Sebacean colony.
She uses him to get to her feet.
JOHN: But we are near a Peacekeeper base. Less than twenty arns, and those commandos were kind enough to leave the address.
Command.
RYGEL: You aren't just fahrbot! You're magra-fahrbot!
JOHN: I did it before. I can do it again.
CHIANA: Yeah. By the skin of your mivonks.
RYGEL: Your masquerade as a Peacekeeper fooled four battle weary commandos, briefly!
ZHAAN: Infiltrating a top-secret Gammak base is...quite another matter though, John.
D'ARGO: When you get inside the base, you're gonna have to find a tissue match.
ZHAAN: And obtain a tissue sample.
RYGEL: If he's found out, we're all put at risk!
D'ARGO: Will Moya be able to get us out of here, with her pregnancy so far advanced?
JOHN: So what are we saying, here? We do nothing? We let Aeryn die? [pause] Is everybody happy with that?
D'ARGO: [shakes head] No, John. I do not want Aeryn to die.
ZHAAN: Nor do I.
JOHN: Well, you could've fooled me. [pause] What about you, Guido? How you feel about this?
RYGEL: Look. What's the difference what we want? She is dying. We must face reality, here. The only sensible course of action is-
JOHN cuts in: I'm sorry Sparky. What were you saying?
RYGEL: Is to do...everything in our power, to save Aeryn's life.
JOHN: Right.
RYGEL: Even though it's likely to get us killed.
SCENE II
Aeryn kneels in her room, and coughs. John steps up to the doorway. She stops and turns to him.
AERYN: This mission is fool-hearty, Crichton. It makes no sense for you to be killed as well, let's just cut our losses.
JOHN: Drop the martyr routine, Aeryn, I'm not gonna let you die.
PILOT on clamshell: Crichton. We've reached the designated co-ordinates.
JOHN: Thank you, Pilot.
AERYN: Do humans have some sort of ritual for occasions like these?
John approaches her.
JOHN: Well, there's the handshake. Followed by "good luck".
He extends his hand. She takes it and stands.
AERYN: Good luck. [pause] How was that?
JOHN: [softly] Perfect.
They look at each other for several moments. Crichton exits.
Command.
PILOT on clamshell: The planet, is an uninhabitable gas giant. But it has a large moon, on the far side.
ZHAAN: Large enough to have an atmosphere, Pilot?
PILOT: Yes. The base must be located, there. In this orbit, the planet's huge mass will shield us from it, completely.
Maintenance bay. John inspects the Prowler. Chiana enters.
CHIANA: Hey. Gotta love a man in a uniform.
JOHN: Yeah? Well I love a girl in gray.
CHIANA: [chuckles] Traveling out there?
JOHN: Yeah. You goin' somewhere?
CHIANA: With you.
JOHN: Think again.
CHIANA: I think out aloud. What you need on this jaunt is a talented burglar and distraction causer.
JOHN: You volunteering? [pause] What's the angle?
CHIANA: I want to earn my keep aboard this boat.
JOHN: You? Nuh uh. I don't think so.
CHIANA: At least take this.
She hands him the ident chip.
CHIANA: Peacekeeper Ident chip. Maximum security clearance.
JOHN: This is Larraq's. How'd you get this?
CHIANA: Told you I was talented.
JOHN: Alright, fine. I could use the help.
He grabs her and looks at her deeply.
JOHN: If you're gonna help.
The Prowler leaves Moya.
JOHN: We'll pull the same routine we pulled on those Marauder commandos.
CHIANA: You're the boss-man and I'm your meek little server?
John lurches the Prowler, sending her into the side of the cabin.
CHIANA: Sure you don't want me to fly this thing?
JOHN: You know how?
CHIANA: Yeah! Do you?
JOHN: Oh, yeah. You should see my Immelman. Check this out.
They look out the window of the Prowler to see an enormous, tall spire. The entire base has been built into it.
CHIANA: Looks like some kind of mining colonex. Or maybe a refinery?
JOHN: Looks like it's been nuked. A long time ago, big time. Could be camouflage, could be dead.
CHIANA: Ah, it's not dead. [giggles] Eight targeting systems have just locked onto us.
JOHN: Typical warm Peacekeeper welcome. [to comm, fake accent] Prowler to Gammak base. What's with the weapons locks, you idiots? Can't you tell a friend from a foe?
SOLDIER: Prowler, identify yourself.
JOHN: On an open channel? I don't think so. You wanna count my teeth, do it after I land.
SOLDIER: The channel is secure. If you don't identify yourself we will-
JOHN cuts in: You'll what? Shoot me down? It's not a good idea to gun down a superior officer, without first checking his ident chip.
There's a moment of silence.
SOLDIER: Prowler. You have a landing vector.
JOHN: Thank you...so much.
CHIANA: You're not completely untalented, yourself.
JOHN: Thank you so much.
John negotiates the Prowler to the co-ordinates given.
Hangar.
John stands in front of the pointed weapons of the soldiers. Several higher ranking officers come up behind him.
JAVIO: I am Telano Javio. Commander of this base. This is Lieutenant Heskon. And you would be?
John turns to face them. Fake accent applies throughout most of this ep.
JOHN: Larraq. Captain. And don't even think of asking what my assignment is.
JAVIO: I wouldn't dream of it, Captain. But we do need to see your ident chip.
John raises his hand and lets the chip swing from his fist. Lt. Heskon approaches and takes it from him. Heskon places the chip in a device to verify its validity. A light turns green. Heskon turns, and walks back.
HESKON: Ident chip verified, Sir.
He places it back in John's open hand.
JOHN: Satisfied?
JAVIO: Delighted to have you with us, Captain. Though I am wondering.....how you knew this base was here?
JOHN: Keep wondering. I'll need quarters for myself and for my personal server.
JAVIO: Your.......
Chiana approaches.
CHIANA: Larraq. Make sure the quarters are comfortably cool. It's hot in here.
JAVIO: You brought a civilian with you.
JOHN: You're getting nosey.
Chiana removes her coat, which Lt. Heskon happily helps her with.
JAVIO: Just admiring your taste. My I offer food and drink to you and your....server?
CHIANA: I'd love some refreshment.
John exits.
SCENE I
Bar.
CHIANA to Heskon: Mm. I could get real fond of this place. The Raslak is good. And strong.
HESKON: Is that how you like it?
CHIANA: Mmmmmm. Strong and hot. Makes a mouth tingle. Help it go down smoooooth.......and sloooow.
JAVIO to John: I've never seen a species quite like her.
CHIANA: Males outnumber females, here? Five to one. What do you poor guys do for fun?
HESKON: [chuckles] Not very much.
CHIANA: Well, I'd say I got here....just in time.
JAVIO to John: What'd you pay for her?
JOHN: You don't want to know.
JAVIO: Does she give good.......value?
JOHN: She has her moments.
People begin taking note of someone at the door. The music comes to a halt. A man, dressed head to toe in alligator-like black outfit (Scorpius) stands at the entry. Javio takes notice of him.
JAVIO: Excuse me, Captain. Duty calls.
Javio exits. The crowd goes back to enjoying their socializing and the music returns.
CHIANA: So...I'm........
JOHN: Chiana! Front!
She groans and goes to John. John pulls her in close.
JOHN: What the hell are you doing? You acting like a trollop was not part of the plan.
Chiana grabs his rear end.
CHIANA: They bought it, didn't they?
JOHN: You're drawing a lot of attention.
CHIANA: The more they look at me, the less they look at you.
JOHN: Do you think, that before they elect you Centerfold of the Year, we could get on with the business of saving Aeryn?
She sighs.
Heskon leads John and Chiana to their quarters.
HESKON: Your quarters have been assigned at Level Four, Number Six, Lurg Five.
CHIANA: You're sooo helpful.
He stops them at a check point.
HESKON to John: I'll need your ident chip, Sir.
JOHN: Again?
John takes the chip from around his neck, and hands it to Heskon. Heskon inserts it in the computer at the checkpoint. Green light.
HESKON: If you would place your hand in here, thank you Captain.
JOHN: You know who we are, let us past!
John tries to continue on. The guards step forward, armed and ready.
HESKON: Sir, everything beyond this point is Security Three Velka. Genetic verification required.
CHIANA: Is this really necessary? Larraq gets so impatient with delays.
HESKON: Captain. I must ask you to place your hand in the device.
JOHN: And I must ask you Left-tenant, who are you to give me orders?
HESKON: I can give you orders, because I am a Chief Security Officer, Captain.
JOHN: Not for long, if this is how you treat your superior officers.
HESKON: You will comply, Captain.
John stares at him defiantly for several seconds, then removes his gloves. He begrudgingly places his hands into the device. It immediately begins scanning him.
COMPUTER: Analyzing.
Several moments later.
COMPUTER: Genetic scan verified.
JOHN: Satisfied?
CHIANA to John: He's only doing his job. Let's get to our quarters, so I can do miiiiine.
JOHN: Well, I am for that.
HESKON: I'll take you there, immediately.
JOHN: Six, lure five, I'll find it myself.
HESKON: Yes, Sir.
Further down the corridor.
JOHN to Chiana: How the hell did we get away with that? Did you do somethin' to the chip?
A voice calls from the shadows (Gilina).
GILINA: [whispers] Larraq!
John and Chiana stop, then follow her. She leads them into her room. She tucks behind a wall, so that John will enter the room, completely. He steps in, followed closely by Chiana. The doors shut behind them. Gilina steps out where she can be seen.
GILINA: John.
John whips out his gun, as he turns. He sees her and recognizes her, but doesn't drop his weapon, just yet.
JOHN: Gilina. What'e you doing here? Is Crais here?
GILINA: No! I've been assigned to a new development project, here.
JOHN: To do what?
GILINA: They haven't told us. I assume it's something to do with developing...weaponry of some kind.
John finally lowers his gun.
JOHN: New weapons. In Peacekeeper hands. Yeah, just what this galaxy needs. [to Chiana] It's okay. She's a friend. [to Gilina] How'd you know I was here?
GILINA: I saw you in the officer's lounge. Wearing that uniform. Well, I knew you'd never pass the genetic scan, so I over-rode the security program.
CHIANA: You did all that? What, from here?
GILINA: Yes.
CHIANA: Crichton. This, is a very good friend.
Scene moves briefly to Javio and Scorpius walking down a hallway.
SCORPIUS: Not acceptable Commander! We must increase the efficiency of the Aurora Chair.
JAVIO: I'll need more techs, Sir. I'm understaffed.
SCORPIUS: Understaffed or miss-managed?
Back to Gilina's room.
JOHN: Unless I find a match for this tissue sample of Aeryns....she'll die. Can you help us?
GILINA: Of course. Stay here. I'll take a sample to the medical unit.
JOHN: No, no, no. I'm not gonna put you at risk.
GILINA: I won't be. I can fake the work orders and the med techs won't ask any questions. We're used to secrecy.
JOHN: Still too dangerous. I'll go.
GILINA: John. You should stay hidden. Suppose somebody here knew the real Larraq?
Gilina triggers the door to open, and exits.
CHIANA: Well, she's right. One close call's enough.
She goes to exit.
JOHN: Yo, Pip.
CHIANA: I'm gonna go back to the lounge. Let our good friend Mr. Chief Security Officer buy me another Raslak.
Chiana exits.
JOHN: Come home alone!
Aeryn lays on her bed. Rygel comes to the door. As he enters the room, she wakes.
RYGEL: Oh! Oh, I - I came to see how you were doing. [chuckles]
AERYN: You came to see if I was dead, so you could start going through my possessions.
RYGEL: Oh! I resent your unfounded accusation! Furthermore, you have no possessions worth taking.
AERYN: How inconsiderate.
RYGEL: Yes! How terribly inconsiderate.
D'argo comes to the doorway.
D'ARGO: Rygel, you are needed on command.
RYGEL: I am? What for?
D'ARGO: A quick decision may be required if the Peacekeepers arrive.
RYGEL: Hmm. A quick and correct decision. I accept this vital responsibility.
Rygel puffs up importantly and exits.
AERYN: [chuckles] Thank you. If a warrior cannot die in battle.....she can at least die, alone.
Bar. Chiana and Heskon chat.
CHIANA: Talk about having something to remember him by.
Heskon laughs heartily. Javio approaches.
JAVIO: Duty cycle complete, Left-tenant?
HESKON: Oh, no Sir. C-Commander Javio. I was..........leaving.
Heskon exits.
CHIANA: Oh, I thought I'd get at least another round out of him.
JAVIO: Raslak? We can do much better than that.
He opens a bottle of his own drink.
Zhaan works in medical bay. D'argo approaches.
D'ARGO: Zhaan. Aeryn is deteriorating, fast. This is no way for someone to die, even a Peacekeeper.
ZHAAN: D'argo, all I can do is ease her journey. The nerve that was damaged, regulates toxin removal functions. The poisons that are building up in her body.....they're killing her.
D'ARGO: Can you filter them out?
ZHAAN: [shakes head] I have no means to do that.
D'ARGO: Zhaan. Moya does. Doesn't she?
Bar. Javio pours drinks for Chiana and himself.
CHIANA: Not a bad way to live.
JAVIO: Not at all. How'd you like to stay? Whatever you're getting from Larraq, I can easily double.
CHIANA: I'm getting quite a bit. Course, I'm worth it.
JAVIO: I think you're selling yourself short. Covert op types are always running into some backwater planet and getting shot up. This is much more civilized.
CHIANA: I am getting real tired of - of running from system to system with a guy whose got a real talent for getting himself into danger.
JAVIO: Exactly. With me, you'll be comfortable. And protected. Shall we continue this discussion in my quarters?
CHIANA: My policy's no free samples. Let me uh.....let me consider your offer on my own.
Gilina enters her room, where John is waiting.
GILINA: Good news.
JOHN: You find a match?
GILINA: Even better. We don't need to find a donor. Our medics can now synthesize...paraphoral tissue.
JOHN: Great. How long will it take 'em to cook up a batch?
GILINA: They already have. [hands him a syringe] One dose. Some bed rest, and she'll be as healthy as ever.
John stares at the syringe.
JOHN: Thanks doesn't even begin to cover it.
He tucks the syringe in his jacket. Gilina looks at him, and touches his face lightly.
GILINA: You don't have to thank me.
She strokes his face and kisses his forehead, twice.
JOHN: I better get back to the ship. If I'm late, Aeryn dies.
GILINA: And, I wouldn't even dream of stopping you.
John fidgets, not really wanting to leave.
GILINA: We always seem to be saying goodbye.
JOHN: Yeah. [pause] You think we'd get better at it.
GILINA: [whispers] Go.
John pauses a moment, then exits.
John walks down the hallway. Scorpius enters the hallway, from another side.
SCORPIUS: That man.
John stops.
SCORPIUS: He is an imposter. Seize him.
The guards close in on him. He uses his gun to knock one away. He punches another one, but soon there are too many, and they knock him to the ground. He quickly tucks the syringe into a tube.
SOLDIER: Get him up!
They drag him, on his knees, down the hallway.
SCENE I
John's strapped in a chair. The chair is slowly turning, on a platform. He gets a full 360 degree view of the room, repeatedly. A tall red headed Peacekeeper (Niem) works controls. Scorpius stands in the doorway to the room.
JOHN: My name is Larraq. Peacekeeper Special Ops.
SCORPIUS: Unfortunately, wrong. On all counts.
Scorpius approaches. Niem triggers a control. John stiffens and cries out. Scorpius stands on the platform of the chair.
SCORPIUS: I am Scorpius.
JOHN: But of course you are. Peacekeeper. Funny, you don't look like a Sebacean.
SCORPIUS: On the other hand, you do look Sebacean. Yet your energy signature, is quite dissimilar. What species are you? And who are you working for?
John drops his fake accent.
JOHN: Get. Stuffed.
Scorpius signals for Niem to trigger the device. She does, causing John the same discomfort.
SCORPIUS: You attempt to provoke me. Perhaps you are hoping I will lose my composure...and kill you....before I have extracted any information. [pause] I long ago learned the advantages of patience.
He signals her again. This time, the screen directly in front of Crichton activates. It shows many images of Crichton's journey to that point. After several seconds, Scorpius indicates Niem to stop.
JOHN: What the hell was that?
SCORPIUS: A memory. Random and...indistinct at the moment. It will take some time to map your neural patterns.
JOHN: You stay the hell out of my mind you fr-
Niem triggers the chair again. John screams in agony. Several more images flash across the screen. Scorpius stops her again.
SCORPIUS: That was a Leviathan ship, was it not? [pause] I seem to remember....a report of an escaped Leviathan prison transport. [to Niem] Have Javio check the data files. [to John] You're a most....interesting spy.
Niem triggers it, again. John screams.
Zhaan checks the connections they have made on Aeryn, connecting to Moya. Aeryn's muscle jerk at every pulse of Moya's filtration system.
ZHAAN to Aeryn: This may help stabilize you until Crichton returns with the cure.
AERYN: You sure this won't hurt Moya?
ZHAAN: Well, Pilot says no. The amount of toxins your body generates is insignificant to Moya. Relative to your sizes.
AERYN: What about her baby?
D'ARGO: The baby's already well over a sakmoth. [shakes head] This will not affect it.
AERYN: Whether it works or not, Zhaan, I commend you...on your ingenuity.
ZHAAN: Actually, it wasn't my idea, it was....
Zhaan notices that D'argo is staring at her. It's clear to her that he doesn't want her to say it was his idea.
ZHAAN: It was Pilot's.
Gilina listens to comms traffic on a device. Chiana sits nearby.
GILINA: Crichton's been captured.
CHIANA: Can you find out where they're keeping him?
GILINA: Oh. I can't access main control. They must've shut down the main grid, because they suspect someone is helping him. Sooner or later.... they're gonna find out who.
Niem ends another memory extraction round.
JOHN: Waste. Of time. I'm not a spy.
JAVIO: According to the report, the Leviathan had a Delvian, a Hynerian and a Luxan aboard. No mention of a creature like him or his female accomplice.
SCORPIUS: Whom you have yet to locate.
Niem scans him again. This time, John's memory of hitting Tauvo's prowler, and his first meeting with Crais, play on the screen.
CRAIS: You charged my brother's Prowler in that...white death pod of yours.
JOHN: You talking about that near-miss I had the first minute I got here? Th-that was an accident.
CRAIS: It was no near-miss for my brother.
JAVIO: That was Captain Bialar Crais. The Leviathan escaped from his convoy.
SCORPIUS: As I recall, he received special dispensation from the Counsel. To head into the Uncharted Territories, and hunt it down.
JAVIO: Right, but First Command lost contact with his carrier some time ago.
SCORPIUS: I want to see more of that.
NIEM: I can't locate it again, Sir. But I found something.....linked to it.
The memory of being trapped in Maldis' world with Crais plays out.
CRAIS: ...means nothing. Tauvo is dead. Struck down by a weak. Pathetic. Inferior being. You will die in my hands.
SCORPIUS: I suspect our Captain......has turned renegade. Broadcast a wide dispersal message, coded to Crais' command carrier. Direct him.....to come immediately.
JAVIO: You think he'll actually show up?
SCORPIUS: Certainly. Tell him we have his prey.
Chiana is wearing a black wig and clothed as a Peacekeeper tech.
CHIANA: What'd you think? Will it work?
GILINA: I don't even think John would recognize you.
CHIANA: Let's track 'im down and find out.
John screams. More snippets from his journeys appear on the screen.
SCORPIUS: Your memory holds an impressive array of other races, Crichton. You're quite a well traveled spy.
JOHN: For the ninth time, Nosferatu...I'm not a spy!
SCORPIUS to Niem: His previous missions are unimportant. I want to know who sent him here. And why. Keep searching.
JOHN: It's deja vu all over again. [giggles]
Niem triggers the chair. John's memories of his launch and the wormhole appear.
ALIEN (as Jack): There are but a few planets were we can live. The Ancients have stories of a world, that will welcome us. We can only hope they're true.
The machine begins to alarm.
SCORPIUS: Malfunction?
NIEM: No. He's put up a neural block.
JOHN: Wasn't me. Damn, don't you hate it when the batteries go dead?! [chuckles]
SCORPIUS: Break through it. Increase the extraction level.
John screams and cries out. Another memory appears, at his surprise. Before him, he sees himself and Jack. A blue light shines above his head, in the image.
ALIEN/Jack: These equations are necessary for creating a wormhole.
JOHN: I don't remember that!
JOHN: You're teaching...me...how to...
ALIEN/Jack: No. You cannot access this data consciously. You won't remember this part of our encounter. We will not give you...wormhole technology.
JOHN: Why not?
ALIEN/Jack: If you're not smart enough to discover it on your own, you're not smart enough to handle it wisely. You'll have to find it, yourself. The unconscious knowledge we've given you, will guide you. Nothing more. That's all that we can do for you. But that should be enough. You were already on the right path.
SCORPIUS: Well, well, well. Our spy has an interesting wormhole technology.
JOHN: He - - he gave me equations.
SCORPIUS: And that's why you came to this place.
JOHN: What's this base got to do with.......that's why you built it? [laughs] All this research! [laughs] You're trying to create a wormhole! [laughs]
SCORPIUS: As are you. That creature knows how. But he wouldn't tell you, would he? Or so you thought. [pause] So. You sought that knowledge, here. Never realizing.....that you already had it. Locked deeply away. [To Niem] Find it. Segment his mind. As many layers as it takes.
JOHN: No...p...p...no! Please!
John screams.
NIEM: Or his mind will simply liquefy.
SCORPIUS: He seems to be an exceptionally strong species. [pause] A short recuperation. [pause]And then we'll start again.
Niem shuts down the chair. John shakes and drools.
A soldier tosses Crichton into a cell.
STARK: Hey! Hey! You can't put that thing in here! I don't want a roommate! Get it out! [to John] Hey! That's my mat. Get off my mat!! Go on! Go!
John slowly crawls off the ratted rug that Stark was calling his mat.
JOHN: Fine. I don't want any trouble.
STARK: This is my side. That's your side! This is my side, you stay on your side! My side, your side, my side, your side, my side, your side!
He hunkers down on his mat.
STARK: You were just in my chair too, weren't you?
JOHN: You're talkin' about Scorpius' chair.
STARK: [softly] Oh, Scorpy. Scorpy puts me in the chair, over and over and over and over....
JOHN: The chair did this to you?
STARK: [sings] Spin, spiiiiining, oh spiiiiining, spiiiiiiiniiiiiiiing.
Stark gets up and sits with his back in a dark corner.
John lets himself drop to his mat.
JOHN: Danger. Danger Will Robinson. Beware the chair. [whispers] Beware the chair.
SCENE I
Zhaan dabs at Aeryn's arm.
ZHAAN: The treatment's working. But all it seems to be doing is stopping her from deteriorating further. Why didn't you want me to tell her it was your idea?
D'ARGO: Earlier on, Aeryn told me she wanted to die alone. As a warrior, I should respect her wishes, and not interfere.
ZHAAN: You did a good thing. You may have saved her life. Despite her words, she really didn't want to die.
D'ARGO: I do not even believe that she wants to die alone.
The ship begins shuddering.
D'ARGO: Pilot! Pilot, are we under attack?
PILOT: No. It's Moya. She's having muscular contractions.
ZHAAN: Is she giving birth?
PILOT: I'm not sure.
Aeryn begins seizing.
ZHAAN: It's killing Aeryn. We've gotta stop the treatment, now! Hold her down. Alright, Pilot, isolate Aeryn, now!
Aeryn stops seizing. D'argo strokes her hair.
ZHAAN: Let's hope Crichton gets here, soon.
Gilina and Chiana walk down the hallway. Chiana stands guard, as Gilina climbs inside a security grid.
GILINA: This should bypass the grid...and hook us directly with...main...control.
CHIANA: Spare me the technobabble, gadget girl. Let's just get on with it.
Crais' carrier approaches.
Stark is in the chair.
STARK: That's it, Scorpy!! Thrill me again!! [laughs]
JAVIO: Excuse me Sir, Captain Crais has arrived.
Scorpius signals for Niem to stop.
CRAIS: Where is he? Where is Crichton?
Scorpius slowly turns, and beings to leave the room.
SCORPIUS: This way, Captain.
Crais follows.
CRAIS: I have orders to re-capture the Leviathan, and its passengers.
SCORPIUS: Captain. Crichton has vital information, until I get it, you may not have him-
CRAIS cuts in: I order you to release him to me!
SCORPIUS: Your adherence to orders is selective. You have repeatedly failed to cease the pursuit and return to First Command.
CRAIS: [chuckles] I have received no such orders.
SCORPIUS: Your dereliction of duty is not my prime concern. Give me your full co-operation. And you can have Crichton. When I have finished with him.
CRAIS: Give me Crichton, now! And I'll get you all the information he possesses.
SCORPIUS: Torture alone would be ineffective. Only the Aurora Chair can extract the information we need.
CRAIS: But the chair might well kill him, before you find it.
SCORPIUS: Therein lies the stalemate I must break. You know this human....better than anyone. What would persuade him to stop resisting the chair?
Gilina cracks into the security grid.
GILINA: I found him. He's in a cell on Level Nine. Hey....I might be able to patch into it. Let's see.....[comm in the cell] John. John. It' Gilina.
John gets up and sees a large bubble in the wall, that serves as a surveillance system.
GILINA: Keep your back to the wall camera, and it's safe to talk. I've bypassed the audio and monitoring station.
JOHN: How're you doing? You okay? Are they onto you?
GILINA: No. Chiana and I are in hiding.
JOHN: [nods] Chiana, are you there? Listen, I stashed the tissue gizmo under the check point, third intersection past the tee, you got that?
CHIANA: Got it.
JOHN: Good. Go find it and get it back to the ship.
GILINA: We've got to get you out of there.
JOHN: No-no, forget about me. Just get the sample back to Moya. Aeryn can't have that much time.
GILINA: John...
His cell door opens.
JOHN: Somebody's coming.
Crais enters.
JOHN: [laughs] Crais.
Security grid.
CHIANA: How do I get out of this place? Once I take off, they'll blast me out of the sky, before I'm half a metra.
GILINA: I don't understand it. Why wouldn't Crichton try and save himself? Chiana? Does Aeryn mean that much to him?
CHIANA: No. Aeryn's just a - just a shipmate. Crichton is in love with you. Why do you think he's staying? Look. Once Aeryn's okay, we'll - we'll come back with reinforcements. Get the both of you. Yeah?
GILINA: [Nods] Okay. If he wants me to go with him. Let's get you out of here.
Cell.
CRAIS: You are dead, Crichton. But you have one choice. Do you wish to save the lives of your shipmates on Moya?
JOHN: [scoffs] What are you talking about?
CRAIS: Why do you think I'm here? I've re-captured the Leviathan. The fugitives are back in my custody. However, whether I deliver them alive or dead, is up to me.
JOHN: Well, how do I keep them alive?
SCORPIUS: Stop resisting the Aurora Chair. Allow us.....to probe freely. For any information we wish.
JOHN: It's not a very good option.
CRAIS: You are not in a very good position.
JOHN: So, everybody on the ship's okay? Zhaan.......Aeryn?
CRAIS: They're all unharmed. As is the Leviathan.
JOHN: They're all in perfect health?
CRAIS: That could easily change.
JOHN: Fetch the comfy chair.
Security grid.
GILINA: There. I programmed a blind spot into the targeting system. Keep your Prowler on this trajectory and they won't even see it.
CHIANA: Well, how will I know if it works?
GILINA: You won't get blasted out of the sky.
CHIANA: Great. Now all I have to do, is get to the Prowler.
GILINA: Well, I'll give you a diversion. How much head start do you think you'll need?
CHIANA: Give me four hundred microts.
GILINA: Go!
A soldier pulls Stark from the chair.
STARK: More, one more, Sir! Please! Please, one more!
JOHN: I got my mind right, boss. Be nice.
CRAIS: We will.
Niem begins another extraction.
Chiana heads for the hiding spot of the syringe. A soldier steps in her path.
SOLDIER: Where are you going, tech?
CHIANA: Sorry, Sir?
He knocks her to the floor.
SOLDIER: Where are you going?
She feels for the syringe as she talks.
CHIANA: I - I - I'm uh...Level Three, Sir. The Commanders quarters? Please forgive me.
SOLDIER: On your way.
She quietly looks around.
Soldiers check the levels.
FEMALE SOLDIER: Report?
MALE SOLDIER: Level Six, cleared.
Gilina presses herself against a wall, so as not to be seen.
GILINA to herself: [whispers] Five.................three.....two.......one.
COMPUTER: Evacuation warning. Reactor overload. Evacuation warning. Evacuation warning. Reactor overload.
The warning drones on and alarms sound. Troops of soldiers run away from the hangars. Chiana sneaks out from the shadows.
JAVIO: Get out. Clear the area. Clear the area! Get everyone away from the reactor core! Emergency radiation gear is on Level Ten!
CHIANA: Commander Javio! Uh, wait, uh, uh, Sir th-this Prowler's non-operational. There's a faulty component in the uh....in the froonium drive causing instabilities in the - - the stabilizer. Uh, it - it may have been fixed if I could....if I could just have a look.
Javio turns. Chiana bows her head to hide her face. Javio steps forward.
JAVIO: Very good, Chiana.
He draws his pistol on her.
CHIANA: But I thought the Commander was meant to be the last one to evacuate?
JAVIO: It's funny, I believe just the opposite.
CHIANA: We could both leave. Continue our earlier discussion.
JAVIO: It. Wont. Work. Twice.
Chiana kicks his hand down, almost making him drop his pistol. She laughs. He punches her, and draws his gun on her again. She hides behind a fuel tank, and pulls off the hose attacked to it. An audible sound of gas escapes from it. He shoots, causing a tower of flame to erupt. Chiana tips it down, right at Commander Javio. He bursts into flames, screaming. She holds it there for several seconds, then sits it back up. His burnt corpse lays on the floor.
The Prowler enters Moya's docking bay.
Aeryn groans into consciousness. Through her blurry vision, she sees D'argo, and Zhaan. Zhaan injects her.
AERYN: What was that?
ZHAAN: The tissue sample. Crichton succeeded.
AERYN: Wh - I'm not gonna die.
D'ARGO: As you once said to me...you will die. But not today.
AERYN: Are you sure about that? I'm starting to hallucinate. [to Chiana] You make a worse Peacekeeper than Crichton.
CHIANA: Oh. Glad to see you're okay.
AERYN: Where is he? I want to see him.
D'ARGO: You will. Soon.
ZHAAN: She should rest.
CHIANA: Great idea. Some of us desperately need to bathe.
ZHAAN: D'argo?
D'ARGO: I'll stay here and watch over her, just in case
He takes her hand and rubs it gently with his thumb.
Zhaan exits.
Aeryn rubs back, weakly.
AERYN: Thank you.
Aurora Chair.
NIEM: The reactor warning was a false alarm.
HESKON: Sir, a Prowler has launched without authorization. It has vanished. There are no sensor readings at all.
SCORPIUS: Crichton's accomplice. One of them, anyway. The false alarm was a diversion. Who triggered it?
HESKON: We don't know, Sir. We're still checking.
John laughs wickedly from the chair. He gets another hit from the chair.
SCORPIUS: Crichton will tell us.
